Last year's basketball season for the T.R. Miller Tigers was an exciting and special season.
The Tigers went 19-7 and won the area championship and regional championship at Troy.
With the win, the Tigers advanced to the final four state championships in Birmingham before losing a close game to Douglas in the semi-finals.
The state berth was the first for the Tigers since 1994, which was also the last time T.R. Miller had even won a regional game prior to its semifinal victory over Central-Coosa last year in the regionals at Troy.
While that was then, this year is now for the Tigers.
The Tigers have two returning starters from last year's squad in Terry Hetherington and Brandon Andrews and have seven seniors on the team this year.
Hetherington, Andrews, Corey Cunningham, Teres Fountain, David Payne, Michael Arauz and Jordan Knight are the seven seniors on this year's team.
Juniors on the team are Justin Payne, Tevin Bradley, Matt Lane and Corey Redfearn.
Derrick Riley, Terez Lane and Deontae Powell are sophomores on the team that will also see some playing time for the Tigers.
The schedule for the Tigers has a lot of away games this year.
“Andalusia has three starters back from last year and Hillcrest is impressive. “
The opener for the Tigers will be at home Nov. 30 against Northview at 4:30 p.m.
