BMS girls improve record

The Brewton Middle School girls improved their record to 2-1 as they took a 21-9 win over the W.S. Neal Middle School girls.
With the loss, W.S. Neal fell to 1-2 on the season.
After W.S. Neal opened the game on a 5-2 run with 2:45 left in the first quarter, Brewton cut the lead to 5-4 after a Tikedra Taylor bucket.
Brewton then took a 6-5 lead after Ashley Autrey connected for two points, and Taylor added two more points for the Tigers. Brewton led 8-5 at the end of the first quarter.
W.S. Neal cut the lead to 8-7 with 5:45 in the second after Chelsie Schell's two-point basket, but that would be Neal's only points in the second quarter as Brewton added four points courtesy of Taylor and Taylor Guthrie as the Tigers took a 12-7 lead at the half.
W.S. Neal came out of the half and got a quick bucket from Schell, who had 8 of the Eagles 9 points, but the Tigers answered with a quick two points of their own as they took a 14-9 lead.
Taylor then added two more points for the Tigers with 1:00 left in the quarter as the Tigers took a 16-9 lead at the end of the third.
Brewton then held W.S. Neal scoreless in the fourth quarter when they added five points in the quarter courtesy of Haley Brown, Taylor and Jasmine Montgomery's two points as Brewton won the game 21-9.
Taylor led all scorers in the game with 10 points for the Tigers.
Brewton was scheduled to take on Earnest Ward Tuesday and will take on Carver Thursday at home with game time scheduled for 5 p.m.
W.S. Neal lost to Flomaton Tuesday and will play at Jay today at 3 p.m.
