BMS Lady Tigers defeat EW

The Brewton Middle Schools girls improved their record o 4-1 this week with wins over Carver and Earnest Ward.
In the Carver game at home Thursday night, the Tigers went out to an 8-2 first quarter lead and a 12-2 halftime lead but had to hang out as Carver scored 11 points in the fourth quarter as Brewton won 18-13.
Brewton Middle School Gerald McAnally was very proud of his team's victory over Carver.
After racing out to an early 4-0 lead over the Carver Blackcats at the 4:21 mark, Taylor Guthrie added points for the Tigers to make it a 6-0 lead with 2:15 and Tikedra Taylor made it an 8-0 lead with 1:20 left in the first quarter.
Carver got on the board late in the quarter as the Tigers held an 8-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Guthrie added another basket for the Tigers to give Brewton an 10-2 lead as the Tigers added another basket with 2:47 left before halftime as the Tigers held Carver scoreless in the quarter to take a 12-2 lead at the half.
The Tigers continued to hold Carver scoreless in the third quarter as Guthrie and Gerri Samuel added points for the Tigers as Brewton held a 16-2 lead at the end of the third quarter.
Carver began to put points on the board in the fourth quarter as they racked up 11 points in the fourth and held Brewton to only two points from Lauren Bradley, but it was a little too late as Brewton went on for the win 18-13.

In the game against Earnest ward, the Brewton Middle School girls held an 8-5 lead at halftime then exploded for 15 points in the third and fourth quarters and held Earnest Ward to only two points en route to a 23-7 win.
The Tigers will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to East Brewton to take on W.S. Neal Middle School.
Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
