UMS beats Miller boys and girls

The T.R. Miller Tigers suffered their first loss of the season Friday night in Mobile as they fell to UMS-Wright 51-41.
After falling behind in the first quarter 13-9, the Tigers returned the favor in the second by outscoring the Bulldogs 12-9 in the second quarter as the Tiger trailed 22-21 at the half.
After a good offensive second quarter, the Tigers offense faded in the third quarter as T.R. Miller only put up three points in the quarter to UMS' eight as the Tigers trailed 30-24 at the end of the third.
The fourth quarter saw points a plenty as both teams combined for 38 total points with 17 coming from the Tigers.
The damage had already been done as T.R. Miller fell 51-41 and fell to 1-1 on the season.
The Tigers will be back in action on Thursday when they face off against Atmore in the Escambia County Tournament that will be held at W.S. Neal high school.
For the girls,not mentally ready to play. Too many mistakes against a good, disciplined, well-coached team, and bad shot selection.
That is how T.R. Miller Lady Tiger head coach Ron Jackson described his team's 44-37 loss to UMS-Wright Friday night in Mobile.
T.R. Miller was able to get 18 points from Nakiya Smith and 14 from Keydra Shedrone, but only received five points from the rest of his team.
The Lady Tigers fell down early in the first quarter as UMS built a 17-6 lead in the first quarter.
T.R. Miller began to find their offense as they put up 17 on UMS-Wright and held the Bulldogs to six in the second as the game was tied 23-23 at the half.
T.R. Miller slumped again offensively in the third quarter as they only scored five points and trailed 36-28 at the end of the third.
Miller held tight in the fourth quarter, but was never able to put enough points together as the Tigers dropped the game 44-37.
The Tigers will be back in action on Thursday when they face off against Atmore in the Escambia County Tournament that will be held at W.S. Neal high school.
