After a disappointing loss earlier in the month to the Hillcrest Jaguars, the T.R. Miller B team returned the favor Friday night at home to them as they defeated the Jaguars 50-48.
It was the third consecutive win for the Tigers as they saw their record improve to 4-3 on the season.
The Tigers started Friday's game and took a 17-10 lead before Hillcrest came back and cut the lead to 19-16 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Tigers outscored Hillcrest 14-5 and held a 33-21 halftime lead.
In the second half of play, Hillcrest outscored the Tigers 27-17, outscoring the Tigers 14-8 in the third and 13-9 in the fourth, but the Tigers were able to hold on for the 50-48 win.
In the fourth, the Tigers held a 49-41 lead with 1:38 left to play. Hillcrest then stormed back and cut the Tiger lead to 49-45 with 30.4 left in the game.
Leading scorer Terez Lane gave the Tigers a five-point lead at 50-45 with 27.6-second left after connected on one of two free throws.
A two-pointer and a 3-pointer by Hillcrest cut the Tiger lead to 50-48 with 20 seconds left and a Tiger turnover on the inbound pass gave the Jags the ball underneath their own basket and a chance to tie.
Hillcrest failed to connect on the chance and a Tiger rebound and missed shots on their end as time expired gave the Tigers the 50-48 win.
Terez Lane led with 16 points as Andrew Terry also finished with double digits with 13.
The Tigers were scheduled to take on Andalusia Tuesday night and will travel to East Brewton Friday night to take on W.S. Neal.
