Lady Eagles drop two on the road

The W.S. Neal Lady Eagles remained winless in the new year as they dropped two area games last week to Hillcrest and Andalusia.
With the losses, the Lady Eagles' losing streak grew to six games and they fell to 6-12 and 0-4 in area play. They lost to Hillcrest in a close game 55-47 Tuesday night in Evergreen and fell 43-26 to Andalusia Thursday night at home.

In a closer game than some might have predicted between these area rivals, after being outscored 29-17 in the first half of play, W.S. Neal finished brilliantly as they used a 25-point fourth quarter to outscore Hillcrest 30-26 in the second half, but was unable to win as they fell by eight points.
After falling behind 14-7 in the first quarter and being outscored 15-10 in the second to trail 29-17 at the half, the Eagles were outscored 13-5 in the third to fall down by 20 points at 42-22 heading into the fourth quarter of play.
In the fourth, the Lady Eagles came alive as they scored 25 points in the fourth quarter to Hillcrest's 13 to erase the 20-point difference only to fall by eight points at 55-47.
Katie Elliott led the Eagles with 21 points as Freda Folmar also finished in double digits with 18.
Andalusia 43, W.S. Neal 26
After a close game with Hillcrest, the Lady Eagles returned to the court Thursday night at home and dropped their sixth straight game losing 43-26 to Andalusia.
The Lady Eagles trailed in all quarters as Andalusia built a 21-9 halftime lead and outscored the Lady Eagles 22-17 in the second half to take the win.
Elliott led the Eagles for the second game in a row as she finished with nine points in the game.
