JDCC Warhawks drop three, fall to 5-13

The Jefferson Davis Warhawks dropped three games this week to drop their record to 5-13 on the season and 2-5 in conference play. The Warhawks lost to Bishop State 71-64, Faulkner State 79-70, and to Enterprise 77-62 at home Monday night.
JDCC 64, Bishop 71
After a snow day postponement on Saturday, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team hit the court Tuesday night at home in a conference game against Bishop State and suffered a 71-64 loss.
The loss dropped the Warhawks to 5-11 on the season and 2-3 in conference play.
The Warhawk's were outscored 32-28 in the first half and 39-36 in the second half as they suffered the seven-point loss.
Quintereal Kelley led the Warheads with 15 points in the game,
Three other Warhawks scored in double figures in the game as Donald Smith had 14 in the game and Justin Owens and Norman Griffin each had 11 points.
Owens recorded a double-double in the game as he also had 10 rebounds in the game.
JDCC shot 34.4 percent from the field and was eight-for-28 from 3-point range. The Warhawks shot 63.2 percent from the free throw line.
JDCC 70, Faulkner State 79
Despite another double-double from Justin Owens, his second is as many games, the Warhawks fell to Faulkner State Saturday night in Bay Minette 79-70.
The Warhawks trailed at the half 41-35 and were outscored in the second 38-35.
Donald Smith led with 16 points as three other players scored in double figures along with Owen's 11 points and 10 rebounds.
JDCC 62, Enterprise 77
The number 31 was not a lucky number for the JDCC Warhawks Monday night.
The Warhawks posted 31 points in the first half against Enterprise of Ozark and then turned around and posted 31 points again in the second half of play, but it was all in a losing effort as it was Enterprise that held the scoring advantage in both halves.
Enterprise had 44 points in the first half and 33 in the second to outscore the Warhawks by 15 and take the win.
Donald Smith led the Warhawks with 21 points as Norman Griffin also had double figures with 17 points. Five other Warhawks added points in the loss.
JDCC will be back in action on Monday Feb. 4 when they take on LBW with game time scheduled for 7 p.m.
