Mr. Mabrie Gehu Salter Sr., 79, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, in a Santa Rosa medical facility. He was a native of Castleberry and had been a millwright with Parson and Whittemore.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Salter of Mobile; six sons, Mabrie (Debra) Salter Jr. of Mobile, Thomas (Chasitity) Salter of Loree, Ala., Steven (Christine) Salter of Bay Minette, Jerry (Faith) Salter and Joey Salter both of Milton, Fla., and Michael Salter on Pensacola; four daughters, Debra (Franklin) Hadley, Teresa (John) Long, and Karen (David Addicks) Hadley, all of Bay Minette, and Brenda Salter of Pensacola; a sister, Alma Davis of Saraland; 26 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 1 at Cope Funeral Home chapel and burial followed at Lonestar Cemetery with Cope Funeral Home directring.
