Lady Warhawks improve record with double header sweep of LSUE

The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk softball team completed a two-game sweep of LSU-Eunice Saturday afternoon with wins of 6-4 in game one and a 4-3 extra inning winning in game two.
The win improved JDCC to 3-4 on the season and winners of three of their last four games.
Game 1: JDCC 6, LSUE 4
In Saturday's game one, the Lady Warhawks scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning after trailing 4-1 and took the first game 6-4.
Tiffany Cayson led the Lady Warhawks with a perfect 4-for-4 showing at the plate. Cayson had 3 RBIs in the game and was one of six Lady Warhawks to score in the game.
Jayla Davis, Brittany Bradshaw, Amanda Pullen, Kim Carter and Ashleigh Allgood all scored for the Lady Warhawks and Emily Davenport, Davis, Sarah Vardeman and Cayson all had RBIs in the game.
Carla Ray and Kayla McKnight both combined for four hits, four runs (two earned), five walks, and five strikeouts on the mound for the Lady Warhawks in the win.
Game 2: JDCC 4, LSUE 3
In game two, after leading 2-1 in the top of the seventh inning with two outs in the game, a solo homerun by LSU-Eunice tied the game at 2-2 and forced the game into extra innings before two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning for the Lady Warhawks.
After having the game tied at 2-2 in the top of the seventh inning and falling behind 3-2 in the top of the eighth inning, a double by Davis played pinch runner Jenny Sanders to tie the game at 3-3.
An intentional walk put runners at first and second for the Lady Warhawks when Chasity Nicholson lined a shot down third base line off the third baseman and third base to score pinch runner DeAndrea Dawson from second to give the Lady Warhawks the 4-3 win.
Jerri Edwards, Pullen, Dawson and Jenny Sanders all scored in the win for the Lady Warhawks as six different Warhawks combined for hits in the game.
Nicholson had two RBIs in the game as Davis and Cayson each had one RBI.
Ashleigh Allgood went the complete game on the mound for the Lady Warhawks as she scattered five hits and allowed 3 runs (1 earned). Allgood allowed five walks and struck out 11 batters in the game.
JDCC was scheduled to be back in action on Tuesday at home against PJC and will be back in action on Thursday against Gadsden State at home.
Game time is scheduled for 1 and 3 p.m. at JDCC Lady Warhawk field.
