After splitting with Huntingdon College in Montgomery on Monday, the JDCC Warhawk baseball picked up a 13-8 win over East Central (Miss.) to improve to 6-5 on the year.
JDCC collected 19 hits from nine different players, and Justin Reeves led with four hits in the game.
Cody White, Clay Simpson and Wes Gambrill collected three RBIs each.
Blevins said he was happy with the defensive effort as well.
JDCC used four pitchers in the game as Michael Clay picked up the win, going four innings and allowing four hits and four runs. Clay struck out three and walked five.
After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first inning, the Warhawks responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-1 lead.
JDCC and East Central each scored in the next three innings as JDCC took a 9-4 lead and held a 12-6 at the end of the fifth inning.
In the bottom of the second inning, a lead off double by Reeves and a balk by East Central pushed Reeves to third. A sacrifice fly by White scored Reeves to give JDCC a 5-2 lead.
After taking a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the third, JDCC took a 7-4 lead after a White double scored Cordaro Lindsey who reached on a walk and then advanced on a balk and a steal. A bad throw on a pickoff move advanced White to third and later scored to make it 8-4 after a sacrifice by Simpson. JDCC held a 9-4 lead at the end of the fourth inning of play.
In the top of the fifth, East Central trimmed the JDCC lead to 9-6, but JDCC extended their lead to 12-6 in the bottom of the inning.
Another leadoff double by Reeves and a lazy fly by Lindsey gave the Warhawks runners at second and third with no outs.
A fielder's choice scored Reeves and a single by Simpson gave JDCC an 11-6 lead as a double by Kyle Snedeker scored Simpson to make it a 12-6 lead at the end of five.
East Central cut the JDCC lead to 12-8 after scoring runs in the sixth and seventh innings, but a late run for the Warhawks in the seventh gave JDCC a 13-8 lead as the Warhawks went on for the win.
Due to the length of the first game, the second game was called due to darkness.
JDCC 0, Huntingdon 4
The first game of day for JDCC against Huntingdon was not much to celebrate as JDCC was shut out and only collected five hits in the game, Lindsey, Snedeker and Sanderson each collected hits for the Warhawks in the loss.
Matthew Stokes took the loss on the mound for the Warhawks as he went five innings, allowing eight hits, four earned runs, and no walks and striking out six.
The loss dropped JDCC to 4-5 on the year.
JDCC 13, Huntingdon 0
After being shutout in game one, JDCC returned the favor while scoring 13 runs to take a 13-0 win.
JDCC out hit Huntingdon 13-4 in game two.
Lindsey was a perfect 3-for-3 in the game with three RBIs. Robbie Carlson went five innings for JDCC and got the win. Carlson allowed four hits and struck out seven in the win.
