Mrs. Joyce Dantzler Blue, 73, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008. She was a native of Brewton, and a resident of Pensacola since 1964. She was a homemaker and a secretary working for the Department of the Navy, Monsanto Corporation and General Nutrition Corporation. She was very active in her church, Pensacola Christian College Campus Church, and the local chapter of Women for Responsible Legislation. She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Lee Dantzler; her mother, Mae Hammock; stepfather, H.H. “Pop” Self, uncles, Clifton “Bud” Steele, Collins Steele, Fred Dantzler and Lemie Dantzler; aunts Hazel “Sis” Tolbert, Adel Blackburn and Winnie Frances Lambert.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Frank Blue; her son, Daniel (Kaye) Blue of Panama City, Fla.; her daughters, Sharon (Donald) Scribner of Tallahassee, Fla., Melinda Fruth of Waldorf, Md.; her grandchildren, Jonathan, Robert, Marcus, Carey, Cory and Ryan; her aunts, Lois Steele and Margaret Lancaster; her sisters, Lois (Billy) Robison, Betty Schneider, Carolyn (Bruce) Miller, Bonnie (Stanley) Pasavage; brothers, Norman (Alice) Dantzler, Stanley (Stacy) Self, and Vance Self; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 10:15 a.m. at St. John's Chapel on St. John's Street near the Pensacola Christian College, with Dr. Neil Jackson and Dr. Don Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with Faith Chapel Funeral Home
