JDCC Warhawk baseball improves record with wins

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team improved to 12-7 overall and 6-0 in conference play over the weekend with three wins over Bishop State Community College in Mobile and a 9-6 win over Wallce State of Selma.
JDCC defeated Bishop 14-3 in game one, 15-0 in game two and 4-2 in the final game of the three game set.
JDCC will be back in action on Friday and Saturday when they travel to Wadley, Ala., for a three game series against Southern Union Community College.
JDCC will be back in action at home against Jefferson State Community College on Tuesday, March 11. The game will begin at 1 p.m. and will be a nine-inning game.
Game one: JDCC 14, Bishop State 3
In game one of the three game series against Bishop, JDCC scored six runs in the seventh inning and four in the ninth inning to turn a 3-2 deficit into a 14-3 win.
Derrick Young got the win on the mound for the Warhawks as he went eight innings and allowed six hits, three runs (one earned), two walks, and recorded 15 strikeouts.
Cody Turner led JDCC at the plate as he went 2-for-3 in the win with 2 RBIs. Allen Thompson also led the Warhawks as he was 1-for-1 with a grand slam earning him four RBIs.
Game two: JDCC 15, Bishop State 0
In game two, the Warhawks continued their double digit scoring as they blanked Bishop 15-0.
JDCC scored six runs in the fourth inning and seven in the fifth as Hunter Brown pitched five scoreless innings and three hits with eight strikeouts.
Cordaro Lindsey and Bryant Hall added two hits in the game as Terry McClain led with two RBIs.
Eight other Warhawks added RBIs in the game in the win.
Game three: JDCC 4, Bishop State 2
Game three was the lowest scoring game of the series as the two teams combined for six runs as JDCC won 4-2 to complete the sweep and improve to 11-7 and 5-0 in conference play.
JDCC scored three runs in the fifth inning and one in the sixth and held on for the two run win.
Six Warhawks recorded hits in the game and Fred Young, Ben Negus, Nick Pannasch, and Justin Reeves scored for the Warhawks.
Robbie Carlson went seven innings to earn the win for JDCC. Carlson allowed three hits, two runs (none earned), two walks and struck out 14 batters in the game.
JDCC 9, Wallace State 6
The Warhawks improved to 12-7 on the year and stayed perfect in conference play with the win as they went to 6-0.
Lindsey led the Warhawks with four RBIs as he went 2-for-4 at the plate. Greg Gomez and Reeves went 3-for-4 at the plate.
Derek Lowery picked up the win on the mound for the Warhawks as he went seven innings allowing only three hits, two runs (none earned). Lowet walked three and struck out four for the win.
