The Rev. Jesse James Lee, 68, died Feb. 24, 2008, in Jacksonville, Fla. He was pastor of St. James Missionary Baptist Church and St. Luke Baptist Church for 12 years. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Lee, Jim Lee and Willie J. Lee; and two sisters, Coreen Harvey and Earlene.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary Lee; daughters, Renee' (Tony) Bernal of Jacksonville, Fla., Chanel Reeves of Jersey City, N.J., Darlene Walker, Mattie Jo (Henry) Smith and Barbara J. Thomas, all of Brewton; five sons, Kenneth (Shirley) Reeves of Palm Bay, Fla., Glenn (Barbara) Reeves of Georgiana, Rufus (Candance) Reeves of Sigonella, Italy, Fredrick Lee and Michael Lee, both of New York City; a sister, Callie (John) Jackson of Brewton; three brothers, Joe (Margie) Lee of Montgomery, Walter (Billy) Lee of Bend, Oregon, and Paul (Geraldine) Lee of Brewton; 24 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one special daughter, Brenda (Joe) Lindsey of Brewton and other family and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 1, at 11 a.m. at Baptist Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. William Brown officiating. Burial followed at Piney Grove Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
