Mrs. Evelyn Jeanette Rhodes Fuqua, 76, of Nalty Road, died Sunday, March 16, 2008, in a Pensacola medical facility after an extended illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County. She was a member of Bethel Community Church and was retired from the W.S. Neal Elementary School lunchroom with 20 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Fuqua Sr.; a son, Leroy Fuqua Jr.; and two daughters, Margaret Fuqua and Mary Sue Fuqua Jordan.
She is survived by two sons, David (Tracey) Fuqua of Athens and John Paul Fuqua of Alanta; a daughter, Jeannie Fuqua (Gary) Hall of Brewton; a brother, Harold Rhodes of Mayorville, Texas; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Christine Eiland.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 18 at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. John Kemp and the Rev. Paul Shelly officiating. Burial followed at Fuqua-Haveard Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
