Mr. William Riley Pugh, 92, died Friday, March 14, 2008, in a Brewton nursing facility. He was a native of Santa Rosa County, Fla., and a resident of East Brewton for most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from St. Regis Paper Company and a member of First United Methodist Church of East Brewton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myron L. Pugh, and a son, Billy Pugh.
He is survived by two daughters, Virginia Beckham of Jay, and Becky Lambert of Brewton; three brothers, Richard Pugh and Calvin Pugh, both of Pensacola, and Aubrey Pugh of East Brewton; three sisters, Gertrude Odom of Texas, Betty Hammond and Faye Rowell, both of Mobile; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Beckham, Michael Beckham, Leigh Moore and Jake Lambert; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 17, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of East Brewton with the Rev. George Weaver officiating. Burial followed at Fort Crawford Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing.
