After a sluggish start in game one, the T.R. Miller Tiger baseball team turned things around and picked up two wins against Hillcrest in an area series Tuesday.
The Tigers won game one 14-4 and game two 13-1 to improve to 3-7 and 1-0 in area play.
Tiger first baseman Chris Griffin had a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate with two RBIs and Corey Williams was 3-for-5 with three RBIs.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Tigers took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first before falling behind 4-2 in the top of the second.
The Tigers still trailed at the end of the second inning 4-3 before tying the game at 4-all in the bottom of the third inning.
In the top of the fourth inning, reliever John Mathieu took over for starter Robert Knowles and shut down the Jaguars offensively.
Then, the Tigers came alive and scored six runs in the inning to take a 10-4 lead. They added a run in the fifth inning and three in the sixth to take the game by 10-run rule at 14-4.
In the fourth, the Tigers benefited from three hits, two walks, and two hit batters to hit around in the inning.
Knowles went three innings and allowed three runs (all earned) on five hits, had five strikeouts, and one walk.
Mathieu got the win allowing no runs on no hits and no walks, while striking out four in three innings.
In game two, the Tigers benefited from four Tiger hits and three RBIs to take a 13-1 win over the Jaguars.
John Mathieu was 1-for-3 with two RBIs, and Knowles was 2-for-2. Dylan Smith picked up the win, going five innings and allowing one run on two hits. He also had eight strikeouts. Smith walked three.
The Tigers scored seven runs in the first inning to take an early lead and the win.

In a Good Friday game against the visiting Bulldogs, Friday was not so good to the Tigers in the first game as the Bulldogs dropped the Tigers to 3-8 and 2-1 in area play.
The Tigers only managed two hits in the game, one by Corey Williams and one by Derek Busby, and the Bulldogs pounded out nine hits in the game and scored in every inning but two.
Busby took the loss on the mound, allowing 10 runs (seven earned), nine hits, five walks and three strikeouts.

Game two was much better for the Tigers as they scored five first inning runs, and James Hamric had the Bulldogs guessing all night as he went five innings and allowed no runs on two hits striking out five and walking one for the win.
Corey Williams was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a triple. Garret Robinson had three hits.
Mathieu was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
With the win, T.R. Miller owns the tiebreaker over the Bulldogs with the game two win.
