Mr. Calvin Travis Blair, 76, died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at his residence in Ashford. He was a native of Brewton and was a retired long-haul truck driver and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict where he received the Bronze Star for bravery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard James Blair and Mary Esther Bell Blair; his son, Richard Blair; sister, Bessie Blair; a brother, Roy Blair; and a granddaughter, Adrian Blair.
He is survived by his wife, LaRue Thomley of Ashford; three sons, Robert Blair of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Don Blair and J.J. Jarrard, both of Ashford; three daughters, Shirley Blair of Eden N.C., Leigh Little of Charlotte, N.C. and Christina Ellenburg of Wicksburg; a brother, Ray Blair of Indianapolis, Ind.; three sisters, Lillian Johnson of Ashford, Daisey Shamboo of Texas, and Margaret Lewis of Indianapolis; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m. at Clearman Chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Dothan with the Rev. Tony Welch officiating. Cremation services followed under the direction of Southern Heritage Funeral Home.
