TRM falls in fifth

After T.R. Miller held an 8-4 lead in the top of the fifth inning against the Flomaton Hurricanes Monday afternoon, the Hurricanes scored five fifth inning runs to beat the Tiger JV baseball team 9-8.
With the loss, the JV Tigers fell to 4-4.
The Tigers scored two runs in each of the first and second innings to take an early 4-0 lead, but Flomaton scored four runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 4-4.
T.R. Miller responded with four of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning to grab an 8-4 lead, only to fall to five runs in the fifth to take the one run loss.
Joseph Strength was the starter for the Tigers and earned the no decision. Ryland Dixon picked up the loss on the mound for the Tigers.
Strength went four innings, allowing four runs on one hit, walked one and striking out seven.
Dixon went one inning and allowed five runs on two hits and three walks, while striking out two.
Wil Riggs led the Tigers, going 4-for-4 at the plate with four singles and a RBI. Dylan Bell was 2-for-4 with one RBI and a triple. Dixon was also 2-for-4 with an RBI, a double and a single for the Tigers.
Trevor Diercks was 1-for-1 with an RBI as Bryant Jernigan was also 1-for-1. Harrison Horton was 1-for-2 with an RBI for the Tigers in the loss.
In the first inning, Riggs led off with a single and was followed by a single by Bell. After a sacrifice by Dixon moved the runners to second and third, a hit batter loaded the bases for the Tigers with one out.
A hit batter and a walk gave the Tigers an early 2-0 lead after one inning of play.
In the second inning, the Tigers added to their lead at 4-0 when Riggs singled and then scored on a RBI triple by Bell. A double by Dixon gave the Tigers a 4-0 lead after two innings of play.
After Flomaton tied the game at 4-4 in the third inning, the Tigers scored four runs in the fourth inning on three hits and one Flomaton error.
Dixon led off the inning by being hit-by-pitch and was sacrificed to second by Stephen Warren.
A single by Diercks scored Dixon to give the Tigers a 5-4 lead.
The Tigers added three more runs in the inning to grab the four-run lead, but lost the lead in the fifth and failed to score in the bottom half of the inning as they fell 9-8.
The T.R. Miller Tiger JV team will be back in action on Wednesday at home at 3:30 p.m. against the W.S. Neal Eagle JV team.
The two teams split a doubleheader last week in East Brewton with T.R. Miller taking the first game by a score of 5-2.
The W.S. Neal Eagles took game two by a score of 9-5.
The Tigers will travel to Flomaton again on Monday, April 7. Game time for the day will be at 4 and 6 p.m.
