Nine-run inning beats T.R. Miller softball 11-7

The T.R. Miller High School Lady Tiger softball team dropped to 6-8 on Friday with an 11-7 loss to the Excel Panthers.
The Tigers surrendered nine runs in the fourth inning to the Panthers after holding a 5-1 lead and lost by four.
Taylor Guthrie and Janel McCorvey led the Lady Tigers at the plate. Guthrie was 2-for-3 with two triples as McCorvey was 2-for-3 with a homerun.
Natalie Neal and Rachel Bostic both went 1-for-4. Leah Brundidge was 1-for-3.
Leslie Nalty took the loss on the mound for the Lady Tigers who were scheduled to take on Escambia County Tuesday in Atmore. The team will be in action at home against the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles Thursday.
Game time against the Lady Eagles is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Brewton at the YMCA Sports Park.
In junior varsity action against the Excel High School Lady Panthers, the Lady Tigers of Brewton remained perfect on the season to reach a record 10-0 with a 4-3 win.
Miranda Anderson went the distance on the mound for the Lady Tigers in the win. Anderson allowed two hits and struck out five in the win. All runs for T.R. Miller was scored on passed balls.
