Advisory board members named at BankTrust

BankTrust of Brewton has announced the addition of five Brewton citizens to serve on the company's advisory board. The announcement was made recently by John B. Barnett, III, Brewton bank president.
Stephanie Walker, McGowin Miller, Mark Manning and Cosby Martin have joined the team of members on the advisory board. Other members of the board include Tom McMillan, Jackson Hines, Philip Parker and J. Richard Miller. Emeritus directors are John David Finlay, Jr., John R. Miller, Jr. and Lee M. Otts.
Stephanie Walker graduated from Louisiana Tech University, summa cum laude, with a bachelor of arts degree in political science. Presently, she is the director of St. Stephen's Episcopal Preschool and has worked in the insurance industry as a claims representative and with the Louisiana Department of Health and Human Services. She serves on the Brewton City School Board, where she has served as chairman for the last eight years. Her other civic activities are extensive and include Habitat for Humanity, The Christmas Project, Greater Brewton Foundation, Brewton Council of the Arts, Andalusia Ballet Association, St. Maurice Catholic Church, Jefferson Davis Community College President's Advisory Board, Brewton YMCA, STARS and the Escambia County Vocational and Technical School child care committee. She was also named Brewton's Citizen of the Year for 1995. She and her husband, Dr. James J. Walker, Jr., have one daughter, Leigh, who is a graduate student at The University of Alabama.
McGowin Miller is a Brewton native and is the son of Jamie Athie Inge of Mobile and Richard and Carol Miller of Loxley. He is the grandson of John Richard and Virginia Miller. He is a 1993 graduate of T.R. Miller High School, where he excelled in golf and track contributing to two outdoor and one indoor state championship track teams. Golf remains a passion and he plays in several tournaments each year around the state.
After graduation from T.R. Miller, Miller studied at Jefferson Davis Community College and the University of Alabama in business and finance and was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He is a founding partner of J.M. Properties focusing on real estate development and investments. He currently holds a position on the Brewton Country Club board and is a member of the Brewton Rotary Club. Miller and his wife, Celina Albertolli of Brewton, have two children, Jim, 6, and David, 3.
Mark Manning is a life-long resident of Alabama. He grew up in Monroe County and has lived in Escambia County since 1993 and in Brewton since 2000. He attended Troy State University where he earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration in 1990. He has been working in long-term care for nearly 15 years. Manning currently serves as the administrator of West Gate Village and is a co-owner of The Meadows, a group of assisted living homes in several towns throughout Alabama.
Manning currently serves as the parish council president of St. Maurice Catholic Church and is an active member of the Brewton Rotary Club. He is president of the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce and sits on the board of directors for the City of Brewton Airport Board, the Brewton Little League Board and the Brewton-East Brewton United Fund Board. In addition to his work locally, he also serves on the board of directors for the Alabama Assisted Living Association and recently completed a governor-appointed four-year term on the Alabama Board of Examiners of Assisted Living Administrators. Manning is married to Jamie Manning and has two children, Jones, 11 and Morgan, 10.
Cosby H. Martin, Jr., is a life-long resident of Brewton. He is a 1978 graduate of T.R. Miller High School. He received his bachelor's degree in finance from Troy University in 1983. He and wife, Bentley Nelson Martin, have four children, Mallory, Hayes, Nelson and Stone. They are active members of the First United Methodist Church.
Martin has been employed by Marco Land and Petroleum, Inc., for 25 years where he is an owner and has served as president for the past 15 years. He has been a member of the Brewton Kiwanis Club for 18 years.
