Mrs. Mildred Vivian Gulsby Hoomes, 78, of U.S. 29 north of Brewton, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at a Century, Fla., healthcare facility after an extended illness. She was a native and life-long resident of Brewton. She was a homemaker and a member of Damascus Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Hoomes and a brother, Lowell Gulsby.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Ray (Betty) Hoomes of Brewton, and Johnny Wayne Hoomes of Andalusia; one daughter, Colleen (Gene) Hoomes Jones of Brewton; two sisters, Faye Owens and Hedda Gulsby, both of Brewton; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 25, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Smith officiating. Burial followed at Hoomes Family Cemetery in the Damascus community with Williams Memorial Chapel
