Mr. Theodore Burton “Uncle Burt” Roby, 95, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at his residence after a brief illness. He was a native of Brewton and had resided in Pensacola for many years. He retired from the Naval Air Station where he worked in the instrument shop and was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church on Jackson Street, Pensacola, where he had served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Louise Rice Roby; his parents, John R. and Renthy Roby of Brewton; his brothers, James E. Roby and Carl Roby; and his sisters, Cordie B. Thompson, Corra F. Jackson, Eunice E. Jackson and Beatrice Fountain.
He is survived by a sister, Mattie L. (Richard) Lombard; a brother, John (Kathleen) Roby, both of Decatur; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 13, at 2 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home with Evangelists Tom Tolbert and Gary Howard officiating. Burial followed at Bayview Memorial Park with Faith Chapel Funeral Home directing.
