Staff and volunteers with the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce are gearing up and working toward making the 2008 Blueberry Festival a success.
Judy Crane, executive director of the Chamber, said many spots for entertainment and vendors have already been filled.
Vendors who will have original arts and crafts will be the only vendors allowed in the park on the day of the festival, Crane said.
Individuals scheduled to perform include Brandon Patterson, Misty Beasley, Delilah Holloway, Ashley Dawn, Lisa Schlomann, Lois Crenshaw, Alicia Summerlin and Jack Long.
Pendleton, a Jay resident, won the Talent Search competition at Creek Casino earlier this spring and recently opened a show at the location featuring Lorrie Morgan.
Other entertainers planned for this year's festival includes Pulse, a youth group from the East Brewton Assembly of God as well as the Twin Creek Cloggers and the Heart of Dixie Cloggers.
Other special events are also scheduled in conjunction with the Blueberry Festival this year, Crane said.
Blueberry cookbooks have also been a hit for many years as part of the fundraising event, Crane said.
Booth spaces are limited but are still available, Crane said.
Food vendor space has already been filled, Crane said.
Other food vendors at the festival will be selling a variety of items including funnel cakes, barbecue, shaved ice, roasted corn, kettle popcorn and boiled and roasted peanuts.
The children's area will also be going again this year,” Crane said.
Crane said there should be something for everyone at the 28th annual event set at Burnt Corn Creek Park.
Anyone interested in an arts and crafts booth space or to purchase a cookbook may contact the Chamber at 867-3224 or stop by the offices at Brewton City Hall on Douglas Avenue.
