Father's Day is even more special this year for Carl McInnish. His son was born on Valentine's Day, and baby Luke is the apple of his daddy's eye.
In many ways, McInnish trained for his role as father by spending time working at Big Oak Ranch. In fact he and his wife, Kathryn, lived at the ranch for a while and were surrogate parents for six boys ranging in age up to 15 years old.
Last fall the opportunity came for the McInnish family to move back to Brewton when a position opened up at First Presbyterian Church of Brewton. The church needed a youth director, and it just so happened that Kathryn was pregnant at the time,
The couple moved back to Brewton and McInnish started his job at the church. He is still dealing with the young, but according to him, the youth he is with now do not come with the same problems he had handled at the ranch.
Vacation Bible school just finished on Friday and that has kept McInnish very busy. He also teaches an intense cardiological class.
McInnish said Luke is a little young yet, but he is sleeping through the night. He said it definitely easier so far than looking after the boys at the ranch.
