Mrs. Dorothea Louise McCormick-Simmons, 84, died Saturday, June 14, 2008 in a Jay hospital. She was a native of Munson, Fla., and a resident of the Mosquito Flats area in Century. She was a cosmetologist until her retirement. She is preceded in death by seven husbands, the last being Clyde Maxwell Simmons; her parents, Samuel and Eunice McCurdy McCormick; her sisters, Evelyn Booker, Betty Morris and Elaine Freeman; her brothers, Robert McCormick, Rudy McCormick, and Samuel McCormick.
She is survived by a daugther, Suette Nash of Durham, N.C.; an uncle, Leonard (Lillian) McCurdy of Century; a brother, Andy L. McCormick of Century; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Nash of Century and numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 25, at 3 p.m. at Happy Valley Holiness Church with Speaker Michael J.D. Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow at McCurdy Cemetery with Flomaton Funeral Home directing.
