Amy Capps returned home to her family safe and sound after discovering the intensity of a search for her.
Adam Johnson, investigator in the missing person's case for the Escambia County Sheriffs Department, said Capps came home on her own Tuesday night.
Capps' mother, Donna Capps Johns, said she was glad to have her daughter home. “I'm very relieved she's back,” Johns said. “I was thinking the worst. I'm just glad that she's all right and she's back home.”
Johns had distributed fliers around the Brewton area. Those fliers were the reason her daughter is back home today, she said.
Capps was reported missing by her mother June 12 to local law enforcement officials. The 17-year-old left her home on Willow Lane off Travis Road June 7 and did not contact family or friends after that time, Johns said.
