Mr. Charles D. Howington, 65, of Woodmere Drive, died Monday, June 23, 2008, at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native and longtime resident of Alabama and a former resident of New Mexico before moving to Brewton more than 30 years ago. He was a truck driver and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Howington and a brother, Bruce Howington.
He is survived by his mother, Sallie Howington of Brewton; his wife, Renate Howington of Brewton; three step-daughters, Debbie (Terry) Godwin of Evergreen, Shelia (Tom) Bruen of Alexandria, Va., and Theresa (Stephen) Murphy of Brewton; three brothers, Raymond Howington of Barnett's Crossroads, Jimmy Howington of D'Lo, Miss., and Cecil Howington of Brewton; two sisters, Helen English of Pace, Fla., and Cathy Green of Flomaton; and four grandchildren, Monica Segrest, Leah Godwin, Stephen Murphy, and Daniel Bruen.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 26, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Father Adrian Cook and the Rev. Doug Darby officiating. Burial followed at Catawba Springs Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
