After sweeping through their district tournament in Monroeville, the 14-year-old Brewton Babe Ruth team is ready to make the trip to Demopolis for state tournament action.
The 14-year-old Brewton Babe Ruth team will begin their state tournament play in Demopolis Saturday at the Demopolis Sportsplex at 2:30 p.m. in District 3 competition.
Also on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Brewton will play against Central Alabama.
On Sunday, Brewton will play at 5 p.m. against Tallassee and again Monday at 4:30 p.m. against the District 12 team.
The Brewton team will head up to Demopolis on Friday for a banquet and a supper for all players, teams, and coaches. That will help them prepare them to hit the field at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Instead of the double elimination style tournament, pool play is what is now featured in state tournament and Denton favors the idea of pool play.
Denton is no stranger to coaching baseball in the area and has seen his fair share of All-Star games and seasons.
