Mr. Ben Steadham, 78, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of McDavid, Fla., a retired construction worker, a member of the local union 991 and a member of Ray's Chapel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Della Steadham; and a brother, Bob Steadham.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Steadham of McDavid; three sons, Roy Steadham of Ottawa, Kan., Nathan Hardy of Conroe, Texas, and Dalton Steadham of McDavid; two daughters, Mary (Ray) Cranford of Guyton, Ga., and Sandra (Mack) Morris Jr. of McDavid; a brother, Dudley (Clara) Steadham of McDavid; two sisters, Mattie Mae Driver of McDavid and Margaret Kimmons of Jay, Fla.; nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Phil Enfinger officiating. Burial followed at Ray's Chapel Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Jeff Steadham, Daniel Steadham, David Steadham, Jeffery Steadham, Lee Jernigan and John Godwin.
