Mr. Hillary Culliver Sr., 84, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at a health facility in Jackson. He was a native of Brewton and a resident of Michigan since 1969. He worked for the City of Albion in the street department for 18 years until he retired. He was a member of Higby Church of Christ in Jackson and a former member of Gencreek Baptist Church in Boykin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vanilla Caldwell Culliver; his parents; six brothers; and two sisters.
He is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Smiley and Willia Jean Johnson, both of Albion; six sons, Gary Caldwell and Jesse Culliver, both of Jackson, John Culliver of Lansing, Mich., Frank Culliver of Columbus, Ohio, Alphonso Caldwell of New York and Hillary Culliver Jr. of Atmore; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and other friends and relatives.
