Lynae Hanks
Lynae Hanks recently received a letter of acceptance from the University of Alabama At Birmingham to enter the nutrition science PhD program this fall.
Hanks recently receved her master of science degree in nutition from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The degree was awarded to the graduate during ceremonies held Aug. 8 on the college campus.
Hanks will be conducting research under the direction of Dr. J. Fernandez who serves as the program director. He holds a PhD in genetics. The research will explore the interaction between genes, diet and lifestyle and how genetic makeup influences hunger, satiation, food preferencces and food consumption.
Hanks is a 2001 graduate of W.S. Neal High School in East Brewton.
She is the daughter of Lonnie and Deborah Williams Hanks of Brewton.
Kelly Hawthorne
Kelly Hawthorne, a 2008 graduate of Tate High School has received a four year scholarship to attend Georgetown University in Washington D.C.
While at Georgetown, Hawthorne will be studying law.
She is the daughter of Mike and Beth Hawthorne of Cantonment, Fla., and the granddaughter of Lem and Peggy Hawthorne of East Brewton.
