Mr. Reo Kirkland Jr., 60, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, after a brief illness. He was a native and life-long resident of Brewton. He was loving daddy of Reo Kirkland III, a graduate of T.R, Miller High School, a graduate of Auburn University and Jones School of Law. He was an assistant district attorney and owner of Reo Kirkland Attorney at Law. He served two terms as Alabama State Senator, certified hunting guide in Maine, a delegator for Alabama Wildlife Commission, and he nominated his mother, Martha Terry Kirkland for president of the United States.
He is survived by his son, Reo Kirkland III of Brewton, Reo Kirkland III's special friend, Hilary Shell; a brother, Karl (Laurie) Kirkland of Montgomery; a sister, Jean (John) Kirkland Ritchie of North Carolina; and special friends, Wendy West of Brewton, Paul Harden Sr., Grover Smith, and all the pallbearers.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 20, at 3 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Brother Lee Cadenhead, son Reo Kirkland III, Grover Smith and Steve Billy officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers were Reo Kirkland III, Monte McGougin, Grover Smith, Steve Billy, Russell Martin, Paul Harden Jr., Paul Harden Sr. and Pat Lindsey.
