Mrs. Helen Dean Fuqua, 94, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at a Pensacola health care facility after an extended illness. She was a native of Stapleton and a resident of Brewton for more than 40 years before moving to Fairhope and then Cantonment. She and her husband owned and operated the Brewton Bowling Alley for a number of years in Brewton. She was a member of the East Brewton Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Fuqua; and her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Donna Weaver of Cantonment; a sister, Mary Sue Head of Stapleton; two great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. at the East Brewton Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Ingram officiating. Burial followed at Fort Crawford Cemetery in East Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
