In just 28 days Brewton area residents will have a new store to browse and shop in when the Walmart Supercenter opens its doors.
Willis said hiring of new employees is ongoing and will continue through the store opening.
Willis said customer service is a top priority for the store and employees will be in place to keep customers satisfied.
Walmart spokesperson Cindy Marsiglio said the new retail center would hire additional employees to maintain a high level of customer service.
The Supercenter will have 172,000-square-feet of shopping space - more than twice the size of the current store.
Construction work on the location is near completion and stocking of the store is currently underway, officials said.
Road construction near the site is also underway with work being done at the intersection of County Road 9 and U.S. 31. Country Road 9 is known locally as Old Castleberry Road.
Lane widening is near completion and will include a turn lane into the new Supercenter property.
King said roadwork to incorporate access to U.S. 31 from Old Castleberry Road is expected to be completed prior to the store opening.
King said the work should have a minimal effect on traffic along U.S. 31.
King said the best route for drivers needing to access Old Castleberry Road would be further north on U.S. 31 or by way of Appleton Road through Georgia Lane.
