BMS football falls to MC 26-22

They led in every statistical category, but not in the one category that counts.
That one category would the scoreboard as the Brewton Middle School Tiger football team lost its third game of the year and fell to 3-3 overall with a 26-22 loss to Monroe County.
The Tigers, who lost their first two games of the season, had won their previous three games before losing last week.
The Tigers led with 12 first downs to Monroe's six, rushed for 258 yards to 170, led with 17 passing yards to Monroe's six and had 275 total yards to Monroe County's 196.
With Brewton up 14-12 with 4:07 left in the third quarter, Monroe scored two late touchdowns to claim a 26-14 lead and held Brewton to a late touchdown of their own and claimed the win by four points at 26-22.
Jamal Spears led Brewton with 130 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns.
Kameron Coleman had 39 yards and Eric Maye had 95 yards on six carries. Maye also had a pass reception for eight yards and Dominique Jackson had one for nine yards that resulted in a touchdown.
Monroe took an early 6-0 lead with a touchdown in the first quarter, but an 18-yard touchdown run from Spears tied the game at 6-6 with 7:50 in the second.
With just .08 seconds, Monroe County claimed a 12-6 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, Spears scored his second touchdown of the night to give Brewton a 14-12 lead after the two-point conversion from Kevin Davis to Maye was good.
Monroe County scored two late touchdowns to claim a 26-14 touchdown as Jackson added the final touchdown of the night for Brewton and Maye had the two-point conversion.
Brewton will be off this week before ending their season on Oct. 23 with a home game against W.S. Neal.
