Mr. Steven Rayford Smith, 48, died unexpectedly at his residence on Oct. 24, 2008. He was a native of Tucson, Ariz., and a resident of several states during his youth. He was a graduate of John Shaw High School, the University of South Alabama with degrees in finance and nursing. He had been employed at the University of South Alabama and Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, Miss. as a registered nurse. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ernest and Ila Estelle (Grissett) Smith of Escambia County; and his maternal grandparents,. Charles Morse and Evelyn Otillie (Schmidt) Condron of Tucson.
Burial was at East Lawn Palms Gardens in Tucson with local services directed by Radney Funeral Home in Mobile.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Parker Smith of Wilmer; his sons, Samuel Wright Smith and Daniel Steven Smith, both of Wilmer; his daughters, Karli and Chloe Dixon, both of Wilmer; his parents, Rayford and Carolyn Condron Smith of Wilmer; his sister, Susan “Sissy” Smith Beam of Wilmer; an aunt, Margorie Louise Griffin of Tucson, and many other relatives and friends.
