The T.R. Miller Lady Tiger cross country continued their success as they posted a second place finish at the 3A state sectionals meet in Auburn on Thursday.
The Lady Tigers tied with Montgomery Academy, but took second place and earned the right to compete as a team at the 3A state championship meet next Saturday in Auburn.
The T.R. Miller Tiger boy's cross-country team took fourth place in their classification.
The boy's team will not compete as a team at the 3A state meet, but will send two runners in Brandon Nelson and Geoff Youngblood to compete.
T.R. Miller Tiger cross-country coach Rob Atkinson said he could not be any happier of his team.
They have ran really well all year long for us. They have improved all year long for us. Brandon Nelson was just phenomenal. He ran a 16:50-soemtihng and that is the first kid that I have had to break the 17-minute mark. Geoff Youngblood has improved all year and both ran their personal best times so I am pleased with that. I was disappointed our boys did not make it as a team, but there were some other teams that were just better than us.”
Karissa Nelson led the Lady Tigers again as she took second place overall with a time of 19:13. Katie Nelson took third overall with a time of 19:33 followed a third straight Lady Tiger Shelby Youngblood. Youngblood finished with a time of 19:44.
Amber Nelson took sixth overall for T.R. Miller with a time of 20:12 and Amber Terry finished 27th overall with a time of 23:24.
Desiree Gibbs finished 29th with a time of 24:16. Taylor Guthrie took 38th with a time of 26:05 followed by Abbi Carlson at 26:49 and a 42nd place finish.

Cole Pruitt took 31st with a time of 19:42 and Taylor Terry took 41st with a time of 20:02.
