In their first home game of the season on Tuesday night, the Jefferson Davis Warhawks continued their losing streak and pushed it to five with a 73-63 loss to Pensacola Christian College.
After having an early lead in the game, JDCC gave up the lead and trailed by 11 points at the half at 36-25. In the second half, JDCC reclaimed the lead, but turned it over.
Justin Burroughs led the Warhawks with 18 points.
Tysean Thompson followed by 16 from and 10 from Antron Holt.
Holt led with eight rebounds, and Deforest Taite had four assists.
Anthony Jones led the JDCC Warhawks in the loss with two blocks.
Holt and Taite led with two steals each.
Logan Campbell helped JDCC grab an early 6-2 lead with 15:10 left in the first half Tuesday night, but from there, the Pensacola Christian College Eagles went on a 13-0 run and took a 15-6 with 11:49 left in the half.
After the 13-0 run from the Eagles, the Warhawks of JDCC did not score for 4:01.
After the scoreless streak, JDCC then went on a 6-0 run and got within 18-14.
After having their lead cut to 18-14 by the Jefferson Davis Warhawks, the Eagles of Pensacola went on another run.
This time the Eagles grabbed a 28-14 lead with 5:13 left in the half.
But not to be outdone, after trailing 36-25 at the half, JDCC went on a 6-0 run and cut the lead to 42-35 with 15:08 left in the game and then cut the deficit to 47-43 with 10:26 left.
Jefferson Davis continued on a 7-0 run and took a 48-47 lead with 8:22 left in the game when Justin Burroughs scored his ninth consecutive point in the Warhawk run to grab their first lead since leading 6-4 with 14:45 left in the first half.
Pensacola then took a 57-52 lead, but JDCC tied the game up at 57-57 with 4:06 left in the game.
The 57-57 tie for the Warhawks would be as close as JDCC would get the remainder of the game as the Pensacola Christian College Eagles went on an 8-0 run to lead 72-59 as JDCC lost 73-63.
Wallace State-Hanceville 94, JDCC 57
In an earlier game last week, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team fell to 0-4 with a pair of losses to Wallace State of Hanceville and to Gadsden State.
JDCC lost to Wallace State 94-57 and 96-74 to Gadsden State.
In the loss to Wallace State, JDCC was outscored 49-24 in the first and 45-33 in the second half.
JDCC shot 33 percent from the field while Wallace State shot 57 percent.
Tysean Thompson led JDCC with nine points followed by eight from both Chase Cornelius and Antron Holt.
Justin Burroughs led with six rebounds followed by four assist from Cornelius.
DeAngelo Kirkland led with two blocks, and both Burroughs and Cornelius had three steals each.
Gasden State 96, JDCC 74
In the 96-74 loss to Gasden State, Deforest Taite led with 14 points followed by 13 from Thompson and 12 from Fred Underwood.
Logan Campbell led with six rebounds and Taite had six assists.
Underwood led with three steals.
JDCC was set to take on Bevill Fayette on Saturday in Fayette.
The Warhawks will take part in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College tournament in Perkinston, Miss., beginning Monday, Nov. 24.
After a road game on Dec. 6 at Southern Union in Wadley, JDCC will be back at home on Saturday, Dec. 13, against Bevill at 2 p.m.
That game will close out the 2008 half of the Warhawks seeason as they will be off until after Christmas and New Year's.
The Warhawks will return back to the court on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at home against Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Game time is set at 6 p.m. at Warhawk gymnasium in Brewton.

The W.S. Neal Middle School Lady Eagles dropped their first game and the boys remained winless after both teams fell to Escambia County Middle School Thursday night at home.
The Lady Eagles dropped to 2-1 with a 26-21 loss.
The W.S. Neal Middle Schoo boys fell to 0-3 with a 35-20 loss.
In the girls game, Arianna Jones led the Lady Eagles with 10 points in the loss followed by five points from Mariah Davis.
Escambia County held a 7-1 lead over the Lady Eagles of W.S. Neal in the first quarter, but W.S. Neal got eight points in the second quarter and held Escambia County to just two to tie the game at 9-9 at the half.
Jones, Tiana Smith, Shyler Dees all scored in the quarter.
In the third quarter, Escambia County opened the game with an 8-0 run to claim a 16-9 lead, but Jones scored all six points in the quarter for W.S. Neal to cut the lead to 20-15 at the end of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, W.S. Neal cut the lead to 20-17 when Smith connected for two points, but Escambia County went ahead 24-17 with 2:27 left in the game and held on for the 26-21 win.
In the boys game, after falling behind 4-0 early in the first quarter, W.S. Neal tied the game at 6-6 and at 8-8 and trailed 9-8 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Escambia County went on an 8-0 run to grab a 23-10 lead over the Eagles, but Dylan Godwin scored with 13 seconds left to go in the half for the Eagles as W.S. Neal trailed 23-12 at the half.
In the third quarter, W.S. Neal was held to only three points from Jeremy Myers as Escambia County poured in eight points to go up 31-12.
Myers's three pointer cut the lead to 31-15 with 1:02 left in the quarter.
In the fourth quarter, W.S. Neal got five points to Escambia County's four in the quarter, but fell in the game 35-20.
Trevor Burns led W.S. Neal with nine points followed by six from Marquese Banks.
W.S. Neal will be back in action on Monday at home when they take on Carver at 5 p.m.
The girls teams will play first and the boys game will be played immediately after the girl's game is complete.
