Brewton producers are conducting business as usual amid announcements of some plants putting their production on idle.
Jason Daniel, manager of public affairs at the Brewton Georgia-Pacific mill, said the facility will not be affected by the recent closure of a Monroe County plant owned by GP.
Although the Peterman location of Georgia-Pacific announced a stop in their production, it won't have any effect on the Brewton plant, Daniel said.
Wiley Blankenship, director of Coastal Gateway Regional Economic Development Authority, said there is a major difference in production at the facilities.
Blankenship said the idling of the Peterman and Thomasville plants is a direct result of a slow housing market across the United States.
Daniel said GP's Brewton mill will continue to focus on its products and the production process.
Blankenship said industries of all types are keeping up with the latest news and trends to make decisions about the future.
Officials at NDI, Inc., a manufacturing facility in Brewton, are optimistic about the company's future.
Although there has been a slowdown in the economy in recent months, Gordy said her business plans to make a strong comeback.
