Santa is coming to town

Santa Claus is making a very special visit to The Brewton Standard this year.
The big guy in red has agreed to stop by our office to take photos with children from 4 to 6 p.m. next Wednesday, Dec. 10.
He will even let us publish those photos in our Christmas Eve edition - but he's asked us to make a small request.
When you come for your photo, please bring a canned good that we can share with local food banks. They need our help more than ever this year, with more folks requesting aid.
While your children are here, you will also have an opportunity to order special commemorative reprints of the Santa photos.
We hope everyone will take advantage of this opportunity to meet Santa - and help fill our Christmas edition with photos of local children.
We are starting a new tradition, and we'd like to make Santa's visit as popular as our Halloween photos. The Christmas photos will be published in the same edition with children's letters to Santa.
This year, perhaps more than ever, it's important that children who are old enough to understand take part in helping make Christmas brighter for someone else.
There are so many opportunities to do that this year - with donations to local food banks, buying toys for the Christmas angels on display at the Chamber of Commerce, or with many other projects sponsored by churches and other organizations.
These projects can help all children see the true meaning of Christmas. Those who need something will see that someone cares, and those who have plenty will see that it is better to give than to receive.
Santa would be proud.
