Images of angels decorated the Christmas tree in the student center at Jefferson Davis Community College this season. One by one those angels were plucked from the tree.
Students, faculty and staff at JDCC selected one of 52 angels from the tree to bless for the holidays.
Maurice Moore, director of Student Life on the JD campus, coordinated efforts of the club with two community-based organizations for the project.
Moore said angels were displayed on trees at the Brewton and Atmore campuses with students and staff on each campus choosing gifts for each child represented by the angel.
Brittney Rogers, SGA president, said no angel was left unsponsored this year.
Angels on the tree are students in and around the area served by Jefferson Davis Community College, Rogers said.
Moore said by taking referrals from the community-based organizations, SGA students were assured of the need of the child.
Moore said the project serves as an opportunity for students to meet certain requirements of being members of SGA.
Kim Coal served as faculty-staff activity sponsor in connection with the annual project, Moore said.
