Mr. Charlie David Russell Jr., 58, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, in a Biloxi, Miss., hospital after an extended illness. He was a native of Brewton and graduated from Booker T. Washington School in 1969. He joined the U.S. Army after high school and remained for three years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Alberta Russell; a step-sister, Willie May; and two step-brothers, Arthur Brye and Hubert Brye.
He is survived by his father, Charlie Luke Russell Sr. of Brewton; brothers, Zebedee (Mary Carol) Brye Jr. of Brewton, David Lee Marshall of Las Vegas, Nev.; several nieces and nephews; a very good friend, James (Velma) Smith of Brewton.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 26, at 11 a.m. at the Presley-Fluker Funeral Home.
