The Greater Brewton Habitat for Humanity has announced the official change of the organization's name.
The new name brings other changes that will be of great benefit to residents in Escambia County.
Previously, the group could only accept donations of land in the Brewton and East Brewton area. Applications for homes could only be taken from residents in Brewton and East Brewton area. Under the new name, any property in Escambia County could become the site for a home for residents throughout the county.
The name change didn't come by chance. The change came about because of hard work and lots of meeitngs. The result is a new name, new attitude and new areas waiting to be serviced.
We commend those who are involved regularly with the local Habitat organization.
Although the group hopes to be self-sufficient in the coming months, financial support is always needed. Through the support of businesses and individuals, the group has built nearly 20 homes for residents in Brewton and East Brewton.
The homes built by countless volunteers are being enjoyed by families who may have otherwise never known the joys of home ownership.
We encourage residents throughout Escambia County to become a part of the Habitat organization. Through contributions of time or money, lives will become richer and happier for the people we call neighbors.
