The W.S. Neal High School Lady Eagle basketball team improved their record to 8-5 in their recent stretch of games.
The Lady Eagles defeated Northview 44-31 at home to improve to 8-4 on the season.
The team then dropped a 47-27 loss to UMS-Wright in Mobile in an area game.
The loss to the Bulldogs dropped W.S. Neal to 8-5 and to 0-1 in area play.
The Lady Eagles were set to take on Jackson at home Tuesday in another area game. Results of the game were not available as of press time Tuesday evening.
The Eagles will be back in action on Friday against B.C. Rain. The game will be an area game for both schools.
Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. Friday with the B teams squaring off in the match.
W.S. Neal Lady Eagles 44, Northview 31
Keyvonnia Kyles scored 16 points and Katie Elliott scored 11 to help lead the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles to a 44-31, 13-point win over Northview at home.
The Lady Eagles outscored Northview 15-6 in the first quarter before being outscored 8-4 in the second quarter.
With the 8-4 scoring advantage for the Lady Chiefs in the second quarter, the Lady Eagles still held a 19-14 lead at the half.
In the second half, the Lady Eagles from East Brewton opened the third quarter with a 15-4 scoring advantage to extend their lead to 34-18.
In the fourth quarter, Northview outscored the Lady Eagles 13-10, but W.S. Neal held on for the win, 44-31.
Rachel Davis chipped in eight points and Brianna Hawthorne added six. Freda Folmar added three points.

The Lady Eagles dropped to 8-5 and to 0-1 in their first area game when they dropped a 47-27 loss to the UMS-Wright Lady Bulldogs in Mobile.
UMS-Wright outscored W.S. Neal 11-3 in the first quarter and 12-4 in the second quarter to hold a 23-7 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, the Lady Eagles were outscored by 10 points, 16-6, to fall behind 39-13 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Eagles held a 14-8 scoring advantage, but lost by 20 points 47-27.
Angelique Askew led the Lady Eagles with eight points in the loss. Elliott followed with six points and Davis added five points.
Folmar added four points along with four from Kyles.
