The Brewton Municipal Airport is in line for a facelift thanks to news of a grant of more than a quarter of a million dollars from the Federal Aviation Administration.
The announcement of the $273, 693 grant award was made Friday by U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
John Angel, city clerk, said the award will be put to good use.
Angel said plans are to eventually construct an additional 10-plus hangars at the facility as well as the fuel farm.
Jennings said a number of other grants are still being considered for the city.
Shelby praised the work and plans of officials for the Brewton Municipal Airport and expressed the importance of smaller airports to communities.
