Another Republican has announced he will seek the seat of the late state Sen. Pat Lindsey, D-Butler.
Former state Rep. Greg Albritton of Evergreen on Tuesday announced his plans to run for Lindsey's seat in the upcoming special election.
Albritton is an attorney, timber farmer and real estate appraiser.
Danny Joyner of Brewton will also be running in the Republican primary. The only Democrat who has declared for the race is state Rep. Marc Keahy of Grove Hill.
Candidates must qualify to run for the seat by 5 p.m. Feb. 17, and party primaries will be held on Tuesday, April 14. Primary runoffs, if necessary, will be held Tuesday, June 2. If no runoffs are necessary, the general election will be held June 2. If there is a runoff, the general election will be held July 21.
