All three WSN teams beat JUB

All three W.S. Neal High School Eagle basketball teams guaranteed themselves a winning record as the Eagle B team, Lady Eagles, and varsity Eagles picked up wins against J.U. Blacksher in Uriah Tuesday night.
The B team Eagles won 36-21 to improve to 12-6, the Lady Eagles won 56-25 to improve to 12-9 and the varsity Eagles improved to 14-10 with a 54-50 win.
All three teams were set to be back in action on Friday night at home against Flomaton and will take on Frisco City Monday night at home.
W.S. Neal B team 36, J.U. Blacksher 21
Jalen Harrod and Deandre McCaster both had eight points to lead the W.S. Neal B team to a 36-21 win over J.U. Blacksher.
Colby McCorvey added six points and T.J Davis had four points in the win. Lorenzo Womack and Dalton Evans had three points each and Donovan Millican and Monterrius Culliver added two points each in the 15-point win.
W.S. Neal led in all four quarters in the win. The Eagles led 4-3 after the first quarter, 12-7 in the second quarter to hold a 16-10 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, W.S. Neal held an 11-6 lead to take a 27-16 lead into the fourth quarter of play.
In the fourth quarter, the Eagles outscored the Bulldogs 9-5 to claim the win.
W.S. Neal Lady Eagles 56, J.U. Blacksher 25
Keyvonnia Kyles racked in 33 points to lead the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles to a big 56-25, 31-point win, over J.U. Blacksher to earn their third straight victory.
Kyles had four points in the first quarter, nine points in the second quarter, six points in the third quarter and 14 points in the fourth quarter.
She was followed in points by Angelique Askew with eight points, Freda Folmar with three points, Tekshia Jones with four points, Megan Andrews with two points, Amber Brazile with two points and Lakiesha Hawthorne with two.
W.S. Neal led 12-7 after the first quarter, and after a 12-7 scoring lead in the second quarter the Lady Eagles led 24-14 at the half.
In the third quarter, the Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Bulldogs 10-6 to lead 34-20 and outscored J.U. Blacksher by 17 points in the fourth quarter, 22-5, to win the game.
W.S. Neal Varsity Eagles 54, J.U. Blacksher 50
Despite shooting 9-of-24 from the free throw line, the W.S. Neal varsity Eagles held on for a 54-50 win over J.U. Blacksher to improve to 14-10.
W.S. Neal led 40-31 heading into the fourth quarter and held on for the win after being outscored 19-14 in the quarter.
W.S. Neal led 11-5 after the first quarter and after a 15-13 lead in the second quarter of play, led 26-18 at the half.
W.S. Neal held a 14-13 advantage in the third quarter to stay ahead by nine points heading into the fourth quarter.
Jeremy Nicholson led the Eagles with 20 points and was followed in double figures by Sam Ewing and Bob Elliott who both finished with 13 points.
William Shell chipped in two points along with two points from Jeremy Alexander, Tra Dixon and Ashton Elliott.
The W.S. Neal Eagle B team will conclude their 2008-2009 season with a home game against Frisco City on Monday.
Game time is set fo 4:30 p.m.
The Lady Eagles and varisty Eagles will also conclude their respective regular season schedules at home against Frisco City.
Game times are tentatively 5:45 p.m for the girls game and 7 p.m. for the boys game.
Both the Lady Eagles and the varisty Eagles will begin area tournament play next week on the road.
The Lady Eagles are set to travel to Jackson to play their tournament while the boys will travel to B.C. Rain to play theirs.
The W.S. Neal High School Lady Eagles earned the third place spot in the area standings and will take on No. 2 seed UMS-Wright at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb, 5 in Jackson.
No. 1 seed Jackson will take on No. 4 seed B.C. Rain in the second game of the night.
If W.S. Neal was to win against UMS-Wright Thursday night, the Lady Eagles will travel back to Jackson on Saturday and take on the winner of the Jackson-B.C. Rain game at 6 p.m.
For the boys, the W.S. Neal High School varsity Eagles claimed the No. 4 seed behind No. 3 seed, Jackson, No. 2 seed UMS-Wright and No. 1 seed B.C. Rain.
The Eagles will travel to take on B.C. Rain on Friday, Feb 6 at 7:30 p.m.
UMS-Wright and Jackson will play the earlier game.
With a win, W.S. Neal would take on the UMS-Jackson winner on Monday, Feb, 9 at 7 p.m. in the championship game of the area tournament.
