Satsuma
Mr. Thomas Mitchell Chavers, 60, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at his residence. He was a native of Brewton and had been a resident of Satsuma for 34 years, coming from East Brewton. He served with the Alabama National Guard and was employed with Shell Chemical in Mobile for a number of years. He was a member of Axis First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Fern Chavers of Satsuma; a son, David Chavers of Gulfport, Miss.; a daughter, Rhonda Chavers of Memphis, Tenn.; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Gloria Maxwell, JoAnn and Andrew Moore, and Mary Jeanne and Roger Beasley; and a number of other relatives.
Graveside funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 30, at 2 p.m. at May Creek Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Norvel Glover and the Rev. Clyde Williams officiating and Craver's Funeral Home directing.
