WSN girls win fifth straight, now 14-9

The W.S. Neal Lady Eagle basketball team ended their regular season schedule on a five-game win streak Monday night as they improved to 14-9 with a win over the Frisco City Lady Whippets.
The Lady Eagles picked up their fourth straight win Friday night at home with a 28-22 win over Flomaton.
The Lady Eagles will begin area tournament play Thursday night in Jackson against UMS-Wright. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
W.S. Neal Lady Eagles 28, Flomaton 22
Trailing for all of the first half, the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles outscored Flomaton 17-7 in the second half to pick up a six-point win over the Lady Hurricanes and improve to 13-9 with their fourth straight win.
W.S. Neal trailed 6-2 at the end of the first quarter, but rallied to equal Flomaton in scoring in the second quarter at 9-all to cut the lead to 15-11 at the half.
In the second half, W.S. Neal outscored Flomaton 10-4 in the third quarter to claim a 21-19 lead and outscored Flomaton 7-3 in the fourth quarter to claim the six-point win.
Freda Folmar led the Lady Eagles with 13 points. Keyvonnia Kyles finished with five points and Rachel Davis, Angelique Askew, Tekshia Jones and Katie Elliott all had two points in the win.
Flomaton was held to just two points from the field in the second half (all in the third quarter) and was 5-of-10 from the free throw line with 5-of-8 coming in the final quarter.
Trailing 19-11 with 6:54 to go in the third quarter, W.S. Neal rallied and went on an 11-0 run to take a 22-19 lead with 5:24 left to play in the game and led the rest of the game.
W.S. Neal had only four points from the field in the first half with seven coming from the free throw line after a 7-of-14 shooting job from line.
In the second half, the Eagles got seven points from the field and were 10-of-12 from the line.
W.S. Neal 40, Frisco City 16
W.S. Neal outscored Frisco City 26-4 in the first and fourth quarters and Freda Folmar scored as many points by herself to match Frisco City to send the Eagles to their fifth straight win and finish the regular season with a 14-9 record Monday night as they beat Frisco City 40-16.
W.S. Neal outscored Frisco City 13-3 in the first quarter, but had their lead cut to 19-10 after a 7-6 scoring advantage by Frisco City in the second quarter.
W.S. Neal pushed their lead to 27-15 with an 8-5 scoring advantage in the third quarter and then picked up their win with a 13-1 route in the fourth quarter.
Kyles picked up nine points in the win and Andrews had four points. Askew had three points and Elliott, Amber Brazile, Lakiesha Hawthorne, and Breanna Allen all had two points in the win for the Lady Eagles.
