Mr. Alton Whitten Bell, 88, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at his Reton residence. He was a native of Escambia County and had been a resident of Repton for the past 25 years, coming from Brewton. He was a farmer and a member of Canaan Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Hestal Luverne Bell of Repton; three sons, Edward Glenn (Vicky) Bell and Edwin William (Hazel) Bell, both of Repton, and Alfred Ronnie (Dorothy) Bell of Flomaton; three daughters, Adaline (James) Murphy of Jay, Fla. and Wanda Sue Bell and Donnie Faye Bradley, both of Repton; three sisters, Lorene Jackson of Pensacola, Fla., Earnestine (Melvin) Ivey of Brewton, and Maeday Jones of Foley; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with Brother Clyde Bruley and Brother Frankie Bell officiaiting. Burial followed at Canaan Cemetery with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.
